Aldred Lumley, 10th Earl of Scarbrough : ウィキペディア英語版
Aldred Lumley, 10th Earl of Scarbrough

Major General Aldred Frederick George Beresford Lumley, 10th Earl of Scarbrough (16 November 1857 – 4 March 1945) was a British peer and soldier. His first name is sometimes rendered as Alfred, not Aldred.
==Military career==
Lumley was the son of Richard Lumley, 9th Earl of Scarbrough and was educated at Eton. He was Lord Lieutenant of the West Riding of Yorkshire from 1892 to 1904. In early February 1900 he was appointed second in command of a Battalion of Imperial Yeomanry, with the temporary rank of Major in the Army. His battalion left for South Africa to serve in the Second Boer War, and later the same year he commanded the 7th Hussars, the Yorkshire Dragoons and the Yorkshire Mounted Brigade during the war. After his return to the United Kingdom, he became an aide-de-camp to King Edward VII in 1902. He was Director-General of the Territorial Force until his retirement in 1921.
Scarbrough was appointed Knight Grand Cross of the Order of the British Empire (GBE) shortly before his retirement from the Territorial Force in 1921 for his military service.
